Key Achievements

Key Achievements 2018 was a significant year for people with disabilities, most remarkably the ratification earlier this year of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), according to Minister for Disabilities Finian McGrath. National Service Plan 2019

National Service Plan 2019 Minister for Disabilities Finian McGrath T.D. today welcomed the publication of the HSE National Service Plan for 2019. Minister McGrath said “HSE Disability Services focus on supporting and enabling people with disabilities to maximise their full potential as independently as possible. I welcome the extra funding secured for disability services in the 2019 Service Plan, which brings the spend on disability services in 2019 to close to €1.925bn. Summer Works Projects for Schools in 2019

Summer Works Projects for Schools in 2019 Funding of more than €40 million for Summer Works projects in 2019 was announced today. This €40 million investment secures money for schools to upgrade windows, meet curricular requirements and make structural improvements to buildings. 14 schools in Minister Finian McGrath's constituency were included in the funding. Minister McGrath marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Minister of State with special responsibility for disabilities, Finian McGrath TD, today marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Since 1992, 3rd December has been annually observed as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. New Medical Card Measures to Remove Barriers to Work for People with Disabilities

Minister for Health Simon Harris today (Friday) announced a significant improvement to the medical card assessment process which will enable persons in receipt of a Disability Allowance payment to have a greater earnings capacity and still retain their medical card. From the 1st December 2018, the medical card earnings disregard for persons in receipt of Disability Allowance will be significantly increased, from €120 to €427 per week and will apply to the assessment process for both single persons and to family assessments.  This increase of more than 250% means that the earnings of someone in receipt of Disability Allowance that can be disregarded under the medical card assessment process has [...]

New Affordable Childcare Scheme to Open for Applications in October 2019

Minister McGrath opens Antoine House, Residential Centre & Sli na Daoine

Minister McGrath officially opens Windrock Respite Centre

The Minister for Disabilities Finian McGrath TD, today officially opened a new respite house in Co Wexford to support people with disabilities and their families. The Minister said, “This Government is committed to providing a range of accessible respite care supports for people with a disability, and their families. Ministers to meet with management of Lakers service next week after fire damage

The Minister for Health Simon Harris and Minister of State with special responsibility for disabilities Finian McGrath are to meet with management of the Lakers Service next week. Services for more than 400 people with special needs have been suspended due to the damage caused by a fire.
