This redevelopment project involves the demolition of the existing maisonettes along the Oscar Traynor Road and the refurbishment of the units on Bunratty Road.
In addition a new curved building consisting of ten apartments will be constructed opposite the Northside Civic Centre. In total at completion of the project, which will be carried out in three phases, there will be 152 units to replace the existing 144 units.
Demolition of the phase 1 units along Oscar Traynor Road was completed in December 2006 in a separate contract. The contractor for the main works commenced on site in August 2007 and phase 1 is due for completion in August 2009. A phased handover of units as they become available is preferred. Subject to connections by ESB and Bord Gais it is expected that some units will be available prior to August 2009. Phase 1 consists of the construction of 30 apartments, 12 duplex houses, the refurbishment of 16 maisonettes and the provision of an all weather pitch, civic space and children’s playground. The contractor is P. J. McLoughlin and Sons.
