MCGRATH AND O’FARRELL OPPOSE NEW CLONTARF FLOOD PROPOSALS
Deputy Finian McGrath (Ind) and Councillor Damian O’Farrell (Ind) have come out strongly against the new so-called flood barrier in Clontarf. “It is not going to work and will totally damage our local environment and our local economy”, said Finian. “It’s environmental vandalism and has nothing to do with preventing flooding in Clontarf”, said McGrath. Finian has pushed this issue in the Dáil with the Taoiseach and Ministers.
Councillor Damian O’Farrell has pushed the issue in City Hall and in meetings with local residents. Finian and Damian also challenged the major political parties that are in power in City Hall and in Government. They have also put forward other solutions in relation to dealing with Coastal Flooding which include the views of local residents. They will continue the independent tradition of protecting Dublin Bay as a national and local amenity.
