Deputy Finian McGrath (Ind) has strongly attacked “Blurs” frontman, Damon Albarn for his weekend comments on drugs at the Oxegen Music Festival.  “They were a disgrace and Damon should cop on and stop misleading our youth”, said the North Central T.D.

At the gig the Blur frontman said, “I had some nice hash earlier and twice tonight.  It made me loose my way in the set list”.  This was done in front of thousands of young people.  “If Damon wants to get high he should climb a mountain, buy an A.C.D.C cd or go out and help someone in need instead of glorifying drugs”, said McGrath.

“There is an old Chinese proverb, if you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone” said the Deputy.  Celebrities should mind their language and behaviour in front of our young people and not ignore the downside of drugs which devastate lives and communities.
