DÁIL ÉIREANN

Requests to Move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32

An Ceann Comhairle: Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 32.  I will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office.

Deputy Finian McGrath: I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss an issue of national importance and concern, namely, the urgent need to actively support the people of Gaza, to deplore the conditions imposed on the people of Gaza by Israel for more than 40 years, most recently the collective punishment of 1.5 million by means of siege, to deplore the activities and killing of innocent civilians by the Israeli forces, to commend the Irish Members of the Oireachtas on their humanitarian and human rights activities and to call on the Irish Government to assert its independent foreign policy on this urgent matter at European and United Nations level.
