Deputy Finian McGrath has warmly welcomed the official opening of the €6 million Prosper Fingal Centre on Seatown Road, Swords. Speaking at the opening he commended the staff and parents for their great work. He confirmed that funding for disability services on the Northside is part of his deal with the Taoiseach.

The centre and its services: At the Seatown Road centre both training and clinical support services will be provided, facilitated by highly qualified and dedicated staff.

Within the training services, there are training options of up to three years duration with a capacity to support fifty trainees. These options include either the HSE funded and monitored Rehabilitative Training (RT) programme or the FAS funded and monitored Introductory Skills Training 9IST) programme. These training programmes are vital in guiding and developing those who enter the centre’s service at a key phase of their transition from the various school systems to adult.

The HSE and FAS have both been central in helping to develop the capacity and profile of Prosper Fingal’s training services over many years. We greatly appreciate their continued support and backing.

The centre will also provide important clinical services and supports for all of Prosper Fingal’s 233 service users. These specialist service, which includes social work, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, dietetics, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, home support, among others, are vital in enabling those which a disability to live a more active and independent life within their community.
