Leaders' Questions

Deputy Finian McGrath: I wish to change track for a few minutes.  A major crisis faces the people on the issue of mental health and suicide. I would like to focus my questions to the Taoiseach today so as to ensure action on this priority issue. Suicide is a growing problem in Ireland with approximately 400 deaths per year. Given that suicide rates have increased by 24% and self-harm rates by 11%, I ask the Taoiseach to make this a priority issue in the Government's health plans.

I want to give you an update on the 123 bus. Obviously the main over riding problem is the fact the bus does not now travel through Marino (incl Marino Park & Croyden Park Ave) on its way back from the city centre. This is causing hardship for a considerable number of our residents.

On behalf of my class 3 Mc Mahon We would like to thank you for organizing our tour of the Houses Of Oireachtras on the 10 March 2011. It was a memorable visit and We have learnt much about Irish culture and our political history.

• We need fresh Independent thinking on the economy and the jobs crisis.
• Finian was the only T.D. to run an effective campaign on switching just €20 a week to Irish goods and services and we generate 20,000 new jobs.
• Finian was the first T.D. to stand up to this Government on the major national issues.
