Finian McGrath has demanded action on funding for St. Michael's House services for people with a disability. The reality now is St. Michael's House has the largest waiting list for residential care nationally.
- 296 Residential Waiting list 2006!
- Over 74% of these people live on the Northside of Dublin
- To reduce the waiting list they need 70 places per year.
Deficit 2006
- €1.5 million
- Under pressure to reduce services to balance budget
- Value for Money Cuts €2m
Harmon/Wolfe (no policy change)
- Still awaiting implementation since 1999
- Some Health Boards 100%
- Dublin Region 23%
- 59 Posts Outstanding
2007 - €79 million Euro
2008 - €83 million Euro
2008 - €1,165,485 for a disabled project in Coolock
18th May 08 - €33,000 extra grant for St.Michael’s House Special School.
Deputy Finian McGrath has confirmed that he is pushing for more services.
