Update Re: Development Site at 119 Howth Road.
Friday, 19 March 2010 10:56

As you are aware, Dublin City Council (DCC) has recently approved a planning application (4528/09) proposing changes to an existing application at this site . The new proposal is for a Hospital Development.

On the 18th January 2010, I attended an Area Meeting of DCC and the current application was discussed. I spoke against the application and along with others councillors recommended to DCC that the application be rejected. Unfortunately, DCC did not heed this recommendation. The position now is that once an application is being appealed to An Bord Pleanala (and I can assUre you DCC's decision is being appealed) any member of the public is entitled to send in an 'Observation/Submission' to An Bord Pleanala for a fee of E50.00. (Ph 8588100 An Bord Pleanala, for further details ). Finian McGrath (Ind) T.D. and I, liaising with local residents are currently preparing a comprehensive 'Observation/Submission' for An Bord Pleanala. We will be strenuously opposing this application and will be taking into account relevant matters including the fact that this application bears little resemblance to the original residential application that was granted, St Lawrence's Road which is an existing conservation area, chronic parking problems, traffic congestion, no reasonable area for ambulance or taxi 'pull in' provision, depth of local feeling etc etc. Regards, Damian O'Farrell (Ind) Cllr Finian McGrath (Ind) T.D.
