Monday, 10 June 2019: Minister for Disability Issues Finian McGrath today launched the Ability Programme in Kildare. The Programme aims to support young people with disabilities to reach their potential. The Kildare Ability Programme is available for individuals aged 16-19 with a disability who are interested in education, training or employment. The project will provide 1:1 support and guidance, specialised training and individualised personal action planning for participants. It will also engage with local employers to provide work placements and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
At the launch Minister McGrath said
It’s an honour to officially launch the Kildare LEADER Ability project at Solas Bhríde this morning. Over the course of the project 40 young adults will be supported through person-centred engagement to build the skills and confidence they need to become career ready. For these 40 young people Kildare LEADER Ability will tap into their potential and allow them to reach their employment and education ambitions. Minister McGrath added:
