Minister Finian McGrath T.D. this morning attended the launch  of the Irish Cancer Society’s Volunteer Driver Service at Beaumont hospital. The Minister paid tribute to the many volunteers who give so selflessly of their time to those at a most vulnerable part of their lives. The Minister also confirmed that approval has been confirmed for the procurement of a design team for the proposed Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. The Project has been included in the Health Service’s 2019 Capital Programme and has been granted a Capital Allocation in 2019.

Minister McGrath said that upon entering Government in 2016 he insisted that the development of the CF Unit and re-development of the A&E Unit at Beaumont Hospital were included in the Programme for Government. “This is good news for CF patients in Ireland” the Minister said. “It is vitally important now to get cracking on the procurement process for the design team so that we can continue the progress on the CF Unit at Beaumont”.
